The energy policy of Dutch municipalities focuses on energy savings and facilitating the ongoing energy transition. In particular, the aim is to reduce the use of natural gas. Municipalities have the lead in supervising and developing local energy transition plans and implementation plans which contain concrete action points and agreements. In addition to municipal policies, there are other initiatives and developments in the community that also affect energy generation and consumption.

 

To support municipal energy policies, it is important to know the energy generation and consumption within the municipality and to monitor its development. The Energy monitor maps these developments in a comprehensible format, per district and per neighborhood, for the past years. Information provided by the Dutch grid operators is used as the basis for this tool.
